Roger the MP's have decided to abandon that plan, pressured by the current climate. In other words there is a strong chance that they would get lynched!...if they went ahead with it.
They were indeed on the verge of awarding themselves a nice new increase.
Bern rather bizarely MP's have always voted for their own pay rise, although that is a practice sure to change now with this much heralded review of the various procedures, which is currently underway. It was a farce anyway, and how it existed for so long Gawd knows...but one assumes Councils do the same thing.
Councillors dont get paid but just get allowances. The DDC guys get a good allowance but I think someone told me once that Dover Town Councillors dont get anything..but I stand to be corrected on that.
Lets look at man about town CLLR Nigel Collor.
Allowance for DDC
extra allowance for being in cabinet at DDC
Allowance added now for KCC
...so all in all not a bad little earner
But like they say in the words of that well known song
"He works hard for the money
so you better treat him right!!"
