11:2528023Myself and my family went to the kite festival last year held on the Astor School playing field, and It was to be honest, a wonderful and colourful experience.I have been told that the festival will not becoming back to Dover, which In It's self Is a great shame. However the hints at the reason why left me astounded, that Dover my or my not have failed to pay the bill.If this Is so,and I hope that It Is not,how as a forward looking and creatively vibrant town are we supposed to attract such events.Thoughts please.

12:5828026I seem to remember that Shiela Amos said that the kite festival was cancelled this year due to access problems at the Astor playing field. The opinion at the time was that it would be ok next year.

15:2928032This looks like an event thats been put on the backburner, or on the long finger. I was at the event and got some nice pictures. As John says above it was a colourful event and was difficult not to get a good picture or two which we duly used. When I went, about mid morning, there was only a very few people there, outnumbered by stallholders and kiteflyers. However I beleive it picked up later in the day crowdwise as I remember one of the forumites saying so...it might indeed have been you that mentioned that Terry.
Was it a DDC or DTC event I cant remember.

16:0428034I was the one who put it on for the Festival of Dover 2008 the Dover Town council put up the funding and the staff of the Town council done a very good job in helping the event to turn out good, the Festival of Dover was voted on when I was on the council to be every four years,so that makes the next one in 2012, I hope it goes ahead, it could be even better if it did and I again would like to take apart in it, now I only work part-time it would gave me more time, but if it is to go ahead then we need to get it off the ground now,I have no say in it anymore, but if I am asked then it would be a yes.

16:1928036Someone needs to put some early efforts into the next Festival of Dover so it doesn't just turn into a damp squib
I lot of people with a lot of good ideas and it didn't really get off the ground and benefit anyone
Been nice knowing you :)
