 - Some of you may know La Salle Verte coffee shop in Cannon Street, Dover and possibly dined or taken a drink in there.

The couple who owned it were Haydn and Diane, they had a wonderful relationship with their customers, always chatty and friendly and always good quality food and drink.

 They've sold it.

Jimmy Gleeson, who owns Cullens Yard has bought it for his (20 something year old) son to run.

They'll be there today and then open it up on Tuesday and when the money passes over, they'll hand over the keys and off to a different life.

Good Luck to both of them - they've worked hard these last 3 years.

 - Well thats a bit of news alright..well I never! I know Jim Gleeson a little as have met him a few times in Cullins Yard and indeed he works hard himself and is a hands on kind of enterpreneur. I see you still have your finger on the pulse Roger - well done.

 - They won awards every year they were there - Best Loved, Best Customer Service, Best Everything really.
But Best of All, they cared.

I wonder how many people/businessmen are queueing up to buy other local businesses ?

 - Well I personally went to school with Richard ( Jimmys boy) and he is lovely, so give him a chance... and i am looking forward to eventually get enough time to leg it down there for a drink or 4!!
- I have to agree with Brian

We tried it twice and both times poor service and food not particularly good.

We gave a second chance but was the same as first visit so havenot been back...a great pity as the prvious owner had built up a quality establishment (he has I believe now opened up in Deal) which we used to visit on a regular basis.

La Salle Verte has always given friendly efficient service so I hope it does not decline with the change of ownership. Anyway we will see as we shall still use it.
