A man named John Wilkes, who works in marketing in South London, has come up with a clever idea. Being a gardener, he wanted an allotment in London, but there are over 1000 people on the waiting list! He thought about an answer to it, then he posted an advert on the internet for some land to rent. He recieved 10 replies, from landowners who didn`t want to do gardening, and linked them up with Londoner`s who wanted to do gardening. So now, the derelict gardens are being looked after, and put to good use by gardener`s for a small rent, while the landowner`s are happy having their gardening done for them, and getting some money out of it. So, what about Dover? Maybe it could work for building`s as well? An interesting story from this weeks Big Issue.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Are we talking about growing vegetables Colin, or flowers ?
Are we looking at doing up people's front gardens and paying for it ?
I appreciate that you may not have the answers to these questions, but I can't imagine people paying to work on someone ele's front garden.
Could improve Folkestone Road though.

This scheme has been going on in the North for quite a while now and no money is involved.
A person can aquire their own private allotment ( your garden ). they get to grow their veg and look after it, you get a nice looking garden and now and again a few veg thrown in your kitchen.
Obviously you have to agree to your own arrangments but what a cracking way to keep everyone happy.
grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Thanks Ian. I suppose though you could grow flowers for marketing as well as the veg?

Property is theft!
Usually attributed to the good Mr Marx but actually from Proudhon.
Here's his grave. Giving his views I'm surprised that he has not been thrown out!
One of the essential ones I looked up in Paris last week....
