Bit of a scoop here. Dashed round to the Duke of Yorks just as they were packing up. The Bleriot XI which was flown across from Calais this morning was being dismantled in a marquee. Took some photos and marvelled at how fragile the little aeroplane was. The Swedish pilot, Mikael Carlson, was polishing the fuselage (his day job is flying 737's).
Took the opportunity of conducting an exclusive interview which went as follows:
Me: "Wow, you don't mean to say you flew that!"
Mikael Carlson: "Yes, flew across the Channel this morning."
Me: "I say, well done!"
Perfect end to a really outstanding couple of days.
