The wonders of technology, could this be Dover Forums first posting from a ferry in the middle of the Baltic Sea? Having been a milkman who was never enamoured by snow, I now find myself a truck driver less than keen on it. I have just spent a couple of days driving around Finland in the stuff and not once did I see a gritting lorry, although there was evidence on bends and hills.
Apparently it is compulsary to fit winter tyres to combat the conditions here, which would be an advantage in our winters but not too practical as they would wear very quickly on non snow days. A strange thing I did notice was they appear to give a higher priority to clearing pavements and working areas than they do to roads.
