    PaulB - VAT is not a tax on jobs and it raises a lot more dosh, more cheaply, than the NI rise.

    National Insurance is a huge on-cost and disincentive to employ people.

    Labour do love taxing people's jobs.... They want higher NI at the last election and their previous government in the 1970's had SET as well. Remember that?

    You might also ask why every single Labour government we have had ends up leaving office with unemployment higher than when it started. No exceptions.
