I couldn't believe it either Howard - getting a suspended sentence - he should have been suspended from the end of a rope.
These people, through desperation are forced into these scenarios, but a few years ago there was someone trying to set up a "Community" Bank here, but I can't remember now what they're called, but the maximum interest was 12%.
Having to pay stupid amounts like £83,000 back for a £500 loan, is so wrong; the judge should be thrown off the bench - how can that not warrant a prison sentence ?
I attended a Business Networking meeting last night at the Royal Hotel in Deal, ostensibly to promote Dover, through the Discover Dover leaflet. There was a guy there from a company in Dover who specialise in cancelling out "bad" contracts, one of which is loans.
These loan-sharking contracts could well be one of them that can be cancelled.
It's always the worst off, those who can least afford it, that get caught up in it.
