The news has broken this morning that UKIP Leader Lord Pearson is standing down after less than a year in the job. It is accepted by common concensus that although he was a nice guy he was fairly dreadful in the position. He had something of an atrocious general election and some of his performances on television were excruciating....not knowing for example what was in his manifesto half the time.

But he was/is an engaging fellow, but perhaps best suited to a support role rather than the frontage position.

But what now for UKIP? They are desperately short of an appropriate figure to fill the role. Nigel Farrage is the only real household-known possibility. He was a previous leader and is a well known figure on television. However he quit the leadership to fight the general election aiming to become their first MP. It didnt happen, despite being all over the news with his helicopter crash.. as I remember he was beaten into third place.

Chances are though he will return to the role of UKIP Leader at this juncture.
