09:3713066I am no longer a fan of Big Brother having abandoned ship after the Jade Goody/Shilpa Sheppy race affair. Before that I used to suck up every dripping drop and devour every crumb but at that point the stupidity of the whole thing dawned on me and I abandoned it forever....ermmm until last night that is, when I watched a repeat of friday nights eviction.
Ah yes Eviction Night. A group of moronic looking faces ( celebs forget it, I didnt recognise any of them) sat on the sofa waiting for the announcer to announce the evictee.
"Tina" said the announcer who's name escapes me for the moment,
and the very coarse Liverpudlian rose to her feet with hysterically joyous exclamations of
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" as if she had just won a major prize in the national lottery.
Its the new craze now, obviously told to play it this way by their agents, but when you are humiliatingly voted out first you cheer as if you've won the bloody thing. Whats happening? Since when is losing winning. This is particularly noticeable with women. Their fragile egos hide behind the tearful " I want to go home see my kids" line. Lets face they are not really celebs and are desperate to hold position so to be seen to be a loser is very dicey, so they turn it into a victory but its a hollow victory and the viewers arent buying it.
Its like us fellas going to a football match and cheering like mad when your team gets stuffed 3-0. It would make no sense.
Okay suggestions for improvements to the show.
1. Scrap it
2. If you cant scrap it then re-incentivise it so that the hopeless buggers are desperate to win. For example give big cash prizes to first second and third and give meagre fees for selection onto the show. The the skin and fur would fly as all would be desperate to win, as all are just there for the money anyway. This would put an end to the latest image conscious craze of..
"we are all miserable and want to go home to see our kids"
There you are, thats my thoughts for a sunday morning.

14:2713091Yes I watched it last night too and thought .... strange? Tina was thrilled to be voted out, Mutiya was dyng to go, so left and all the girls apart from Latoyah seem to be miserable.
Perhaps it is time to call it a day.

08:4713169They all have such big egos!
I thought the idea behind Big Brother was to see who could last the longest to win a big cash prize. The colossal amounts they're being paid to be in the show makes a mockery of it, no wonder they want to leave. I watched a few shows when it started but then got bored with Cruelio being nasty, Tina's mouth and as for mini me - or whatever his name is!!! yuk!!!
Think I'll stick to more interesting things - like watching paint dry lol
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

11:1713205I agree with PaulB, either offer a major cash prize but make it so that they have to donate it to a charity, which would more than likely boost their ratings or dump the whole concept

12:0713210If they got paid based on how long they stayed in it might be differant. But it's obvious some of them only went in for the money and just want to take it and run.

12:1713212My thoughts exactly Paul, bring back the real stars of BB - the public unknowns.

19:1613247i can proudly state that i once watched a reality show for about 15 minutes.
just a bunch of dullards sitting around grunting things like "yeah" "cool" "man"(even though he was addressing a female.)
i have had more fun watching noel edmunds in action.

20:2313251Put a hockey-mask wearing maniac in there with a chainsaw and shotgun and it might, just, be worth a look.

21:3813254I am glad to say that I did not realise this was even on.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

23:2913270phil has a germ of an idea there.
it will only work if there are many slow motion clips shown on prime time though.

13:4313311Ben Eltons book 'Dead Famous' is a really funny take on reality shows. It is based on BB and one of the contestants is murdered live on air.

15:5013322For some reason yesterday I caught a program about dinner parties - and was hooked - its on daily and 5 people entertain each other and get points.
One contestant last night said "well if you could have lined up the most opposite social misfits and put them together you have!" One lady didnt like fish and one man wanted all the limelite and apparently in a future episode a pneumatic lady gets roaring drunk - the food was not exactly the point but the interplay was hilarious!
They also go around the hosts house and ferret amongst the items of a personal nature - in one bedroom they saw a picture of the hosts partner in drag and in the garden he had planted plastic flowers !!
Well big brother had nothing on these misfits.
BTW I watched a bit of BB because of Ulrica - such a wonderful Lady.....

16:2213323Perhaps we could come up with a system like BB for deciding on the next Mayor David!! Lock all the Councilors into a house together for 3 weeks and the last one voted out is the new Mayor

17:0413324David, I caught this programme last week on 4+1 and it was brilliant! The interactive play was indeed hilarious, the five celebs were Rodney Marsh, Lesley from Birds of a Feather, Abi Titmus, Linda Lucardi and Paul Ross, a brilliant combination which worked very well. Poor Abi was out of her depth as they all got merrily plastered in the old fashioned sense of the word (and she doesn't drink) it was great viewing!
BTW I like Ulrika too
I like that idea Paul re Mayors Selection, it would make interesting viewing on the local internet tv channel

12:1313397The Mayor selection process is about to start and that involves locking the labour councillors in at coombe valley and then they will tell us!!
Colette
the one you saw was relatively civiliseed - not celebs -look tonight at the programme they are just gross - unfortunately I am at a Council meeting so will miss it - or will I?
