I am no longer a fan of Big Brother having abandoned ship after the Jade Goody/Shilpa Sheppy race affair. Before that I used to suck up every dripping drop and devour every crumb but at that point the stupidity of the whole thing dawned on me and I abandoned it forever....ermmm until last night that is, when I watched a repeat of friday nights eviction.
Ah yes Eviction Night. A group of moronic looking faces ( celebs forget it, I didnt recognise any of them) sat on the sofa waiting for the announcer to announce the evictee.
"Tina" said the announcer who's name escapes me for the moment,
and the very coarse Liverpudlian rose to her feet with hysterically joyous exclamations of
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" as if she had just won a major prize in the national lottery.
Its the new craze now, obviously told to play it this way by their agents, but when you are humiliatingly voted out first you cheer as if you've won the bloody thing. Whats happening? Since when is losing winning. This is particularly noticeable with women. Their fragile egos hide behind the tearful " I want to go home see my kids" line. Lets face they are not really celebs and are desperate to hold position so to be seen to be a loser is very dicey, so they turn it into a victory but its a hollow victory and the viewers arent buying it.
Its like us fellas going to a football match and cheering like mad when your team gets stuffed 3-0. It would make no sense.
Okay suggestions for improvements to the show.
1. Scrap it
2. If you cant scrap it then re-incentivise it so that the hopeless buggers are desperate to win. For example give big cash prizes to first second and third and give meagre fees for selection onto the show. The the skin and fur would fly as all would be desperate to win, as all are just there for the money anyway. This would put an end to the latest image conscious craze of..
"we are all miserable and want to go home to see our kids"
There you are, thats my thoughts for a sunday morning.
