I wouldn't be surprised if Infratil have given up because of the very unlikely chance of night-flights being allowed.
I know (obviously) I don't live near the airport so am not affected by the possible noise disruption night-flights would bring, but I do believe that the benefits have been massively underplayed by Thanet DC and the consultants and I know they are running a Consultation (now closed I believe), but I'm sure they will be losing out, by not allowing them.
If night-flights were allowed, expansion would take place and if the right routes were taken (if slots available at those destinations) it would benefit the whole of East Kent, including Dover (District) - if teh matrketing is done right.
From what I have seen, marketing is one thing that has not been done properly there, so a review of how it would be done, must be taken.
Very sad, but not surprising.
Roger
