  We're often told that Heathrow is effectively full in terms of landing slots, and I now see that Garuda Indonesia have cancelled plans to serve Gatwick this summer because of difficulty in obtaining slots - they're off to Schipol instead!
  
  Does it really make sense to be actually closing an existing airport in the south east when one is clearly needed now. Any new airport in the south east is years away, and will no doubt be delayed by numerous pubic enquiries and legal disputes. Manston has a part to play now, and the Government should back it as part of the Davis Commission. That would be good for the national economy and good for the East Kent economy.
