Can anyone give me a pointer to any website with detailed maps of Dover before the war, please? I am trying to establish the location of Trevanion Mews - I suspect it was just a court off Trevanion Street but the 1897 reprint I have is not detailed enough.

https://www.old-maps.co.uk you can search by town and postcode, and it will give you a list of maps by date that you can buy and view online.

If not pop into the library,i,m sure they,ll keep all old maps of Dover district and you could probably get a copy as well.

I hope to get to the Library or Museum tomorrow. It may even be that Street Directories will help.

Thanks for the offer Ken, but the chap I was doing the research for is happy with what I've managed to nail down, especially that the area was cleared in 1959 (which fits in with what he was chasing up).

Saw a tweet with a link to KCC's maps, going back to the 1800's and aerial views going back to 1946.
Interesting stuff.

Good Afternoon,
I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone could me find something please.
I'd like to know where Ruffins Court is in Dover?
My grandmother was born there in 1912 so it may not be there anymore but does anyone know where it is/was? I've looked on all the old maps and can find nothing.
Appreciate anyone's help.
Thank you.

You'll find a discussion and maps on Ruffins Court on the Dover History Pages Facebook group - you should be able to see this even if not a member
