06:5626933On the news was one of the bravest guys around, serving for his country he stepped on a landmine and lost both legs and an arm.
Today 11 months later he's back at work with the marines.
What a great determined guy.
We don't real have any problems when you look at this case

07:2426940That takes incredible mental strength as well as the physical.
You could argue - and many do, that if they had enough helicopters etc. there wouldn't be half the deaths and injuries that there are.
But you are right Keith, a very brave and determined man.

07:2926944Do you mean about the helicopters, or about being there in the first place ?

08:1526948Yes, lets keep to the thread.
This chap is a great role model for so many and a real credit to the Royal Marines and this country.

16:1826963I see that the identity of another dead soldier has been released. This lad, 23 years old, died while helping retrieve the body of an allied Afghan army soldier in an action where 3 Afghan soldiers were also killed, holding to that old code of not leaving a friend behind for the enemy, dead or alive.
What these lads are doing out there is simply staggering. You have to watch Ross Kemp's two series when he was in 'the 'ghan' to understand and appreciate just a little of what they are doing. I read his book too, I recommend it. These lads in the British Army today really are proving themselves true decendants of those who fought at Waterloo, Rorkes Drift, the Somme and Arnhem.

16:4126964The heroic and brave boys and girls in Afghanistan deserve all our support, love and respect. What they are doing is so humbling and so brave, compared with the likes of us silly sedentary desk monkeys rattling on on the stupid interweb. Never forget.
