Like Marek I am originally from the North West, Manchester in fact, where we had several markets on different days of the week. The best one for me was at Ashton under Lyne, a small town not far from where I lived. It was a good day out, plenty of stalls, rides for the kids and a great atmosphere with the stall holders shouting out the banter to buy their wares.

The local shops were still thriving as well, why should Dover be any different ?.

Before anyone says "why don't you go back there then" I have to say I love Dover, warts and all, and have been down here for forty years. It has given me a good living, working on the ferries and the Tunnel construction, and lots of friends as well. I think that Dovorians are the most hospitable people that I have come across in all my travels around the world.
