"There are too many people sorting paper and not enough of making things for export"
What like Conservative literature?
I find it absolutely amazing that you talk about people producing things when you support an ideology that supports outsourcing. Primary industries were not valued in the 1980s so surely the destruction of secondary industries is the next step? You then you have the cheek to moan about a holiday that celebrates the rights and values the people who 'make things for export'. Of course the origins of this day lie within pagan Anglo-Saxon celebration, which in terms of heritage is more 'proud of Britain' than Christmas. In terms of International workers day, at least there is a significance of the date, which again is more than can be said for Christmas, which is merely an approximation of a date and probably one chosen to eclipse a previous pagan festival.
I would just like to make it clear I am not against Christmas or Christianity, but am against the views of some Dover residents (or River for that fact if you want to pretend it possesses independence) Please be clear this is a post against another post and not a post against religion!
Additionally just to prove this isn't a post against the Conservative party or the crippling of primary industry carried out by Thatcher's government: I like Mayday bank holiday because the 1st of May is my birthday....see I can think about myself first too, just like a Tory!
