That almost clears-up a concern of mine. What makes this practice different over time?

Howard thats the First Footguards (and at least one from 79th Cameron Highlanders) who do 'drill' at the Castle on the first sunday of the month for most of the year

all the years i have been going up there i have never seen them, they seemed to be enjoying themselves - plenty of audible banter going on between them.

this young girl was volunteered by her dad to do a demonstration. it involved her pulling a replica rabbit along by a piece of string whilst the hawk decides if and when to pounce.
the hawk obliged and let the little girl go free.

the falconer here is in deep conversation with the bird.
who then decides on its next target.
another quiet word from the falconer.
then he throttles it.
