10:008068Starting this week the Diamond Service will provide even more frequent buses to Canterbury .The 15 and a new service 15a will run every thirty minutes .Canterbury will gain as there is so much leakage to their shops.I did try to explain to someone if you see something in their Marks and Spencer write down the code and order from Dover .It helps to keep the trade in Dover
Sadly I have to go there to shop as there isnt a decent clothes shop for the Mature woman .I know we have New Look etc but they dont cater for over weight grandmas
WE used to have a wonderful bag shop ,and shoe shops ,only clarks remaining .Of course no hats still I see even Fenwicks are cutting down on their stock of hats ..

11:088079Sue - try online at Lands End - great clothes that don't patronise for us more mature types. Good working smart stuff and lovely comfortable smart shoes.

13:088084Good to see more buses on the 15 route. I use it once a week to meet my wife from work to do the shopping. I like to sit at the back and normally get on at Frith Road so I can move when most of the passengers vacate at Pencester.
I sometimes get the bus that leaves Pencester at 15.38 as opposed the 16.38. However the language of the girls from the grammar school means that I move along to Maison Dieu Road. The common phrase seems to be Mother Something or other!
However I digress. Living on a bus route as I do I tend to recognise them from the sound. Now I can say twice an hour "That Enviro 300 is five minutes late!"
There is a plus side Sue, now it means that there is twice the possibility of people coming to Dover.

18:408095There is a large store near the seafront that sells a wide range of clothing to suit the more mature lady and an extensive selection of shoes, bags and hats, lets not write off Dover altogether!! Canterbury it is not but if we all keep hopping on a bus to Canterbury without checking out our local amenities first soon there will be nothing left at all.

I quite often shop in there for work clothes (trousers, suits, ties), sheets & pillowcases and kitchenware

18:538097From the timetable:-
http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables/1515AOCT08.pdf
"On schooldays the 1453 from Canterbury omits Ladywell and runs non-stop via Cherry Tree Avenue to Frith Road, then resumes normal service"
I hope the drivers know what that means, coz I don't!

19:448098Ah! Just worked it out! It comes up London Road after leaving Pencester to serve St Ed's and DGGS.
A bus going to Deal in London Road, how novel! Must get a picture.
