The post you are reporting:
A few years ago, the Lonely Planet guide book ( I believe it was) did a write-up on Deal giving it a really glowing report.
It then went on to say about the ferries being only 7 miles away at "dodgy Dover"
This naturally incensed all those who had a business in Dover, especially those directly connected with tourism - the accommodation sector and the historic sites and attractions.
Moving the town forward by improving its general appearance - the buildings, litter, flowers, signage, group travel, petty crime, anti-social behaviour etc. etc. etc.
It's giving people a reason to come into town and helping them have a good experience here, is what matters.
I got into trouble for saying it before, but even though the Harbour Board and Kent Tourism via cruise conenctions, do a lot for cruise passengers/tourists, there isn't the co-ordination between the cruise terminals and the Town.
Simple things, that don't cost the Earth, should be done and there is a body now set up to do it, but not at part-time hours - it's more than full-time, much more.
