    Absolutely Paul - it's to reduce staff costs.

    The next step is for RFID tags in all items to replace bar-codes. At this point you will only need to walk through an airport type scanner arch to be faced with the bill for all the items you are carrying (including any that you might have 'accidentally' put in your pocket!).

    At this point goodbye check out staff.....
