Interesting piece of information in this weeks Dover Express.
"Dockside revealed last month that Eurotunnel buys 50 spaces for trucks on each MyFerryLink sailing - covering about three quarters of the ferry firm's losses."
This appears to me to be out and out subsidy and comes from an organisation which itself only makes a profit because it was able to write off one way or another £7 billion of the £10 billion which it cost to construct, having been totally unable to compete on level terms with the ferries and after trembling on the edge of bankruptcy for many years.
Good luck to the Competition Commission in trying to sort out this tangled mess. Eurotunnel is going from strength to strength and the future is not looking good for Dover.
