  A statement signed by CC group chairman Alisdair Smith said: "In taking this decision, the Group had regard to the scope and complexity of the inquiry, including the difficulty of assessing the effectiveness and practicality of remedy options in this case and the need to provide a fully reasoned decision within the statutory time frame.
  "The Group considers that completion of its investigation and the publication of its final report, including the remedies process will not be possible within the original reference period."
