The post you are reporting:
Just read in the Dover Express that the Chamber of Commerce have appointed a new DBS Manager - Simon Cork, who used to be on local radio.
Hope this doesn't come as a surprise to you Barry, like my sacking did.
I'm not going to make any negative comments about him as it would be very unfair and just look like sour grapes, but I can't believe that he signed a Contract of Employment for £9,500 - come to think of it, I didn't get the chance, I was sacked before I had the chance to say "no I'll carry on unpaid, deferring salary until such time as the money is available".
I hope Simon doesn't have to fight for what he knows is right for Dover, because the two who sacked me certainly have no idea what the business needs, concerns and aspirations are and just signing businesses up to the Chamber of Commerce, is not the answer.
Being pro-active and on the businesses' side is what matters.
A tourism strategy for Dover and a plan of action (both of which I was half way through) is what is needed.
Not forgetting of course, the run-down and dilapidated buildings too.
