SEGAS are employing contractors to renew domestic gas pipes.
If you have contractors on your property re-newing your gas pipe try if possible to ensure that it (the new Gas pipe) is buried at a minimum depth of 15 inches.
If it is not buried at this depth or greater, you as the house holder will be held responsible for any damage or injury in the future.
In case of doubt, you have the right to ask SEGAS to ensure that the depth complies with current regulations, further you have the right to insist that Segas abides by those regulations.
I should point out that in the course of such work if it becomes obvious that your existing gas pipe is to near the surface (higher than 15 inches) you have the right to demand that it is lowered to the proper depth.
You should be aware that the majority of new pipe (plastic) will be pulled through the old steel pipes so consequently if your old pipe is at the wrong depth your new one will also be at the wrong depth "BE WARNED"
