I don't often get down that far Howard!!!
As regards Cab for 1, Lisa and Stan had it before they moved next the RVH. Before that it was, as Paul says, Town and Country Glass. Eons ago it was of course Sawyer's taxi and funeral parlour. I'll dig out a link to another picture.

I don't know the year, but it's says 12 noon on the air-pump gauge.

It's looks to me about 1955 Judith. I was 11 then and like all boys had an interest in cars. I also lived across the road in Peter Street.

It's good to see someone starting a new business - and a bit unusual at that. So good luck to them.

Regarding the old picture of Sawyers, the photo is credited to Kent Photos who at that time were just a few doors up.

I know a local taxi company came to DDC for permission to use a top-of-the-range Fiat Panda as a two-person only cab and as it would be cheaper to run, the fares would be cheaper too.
It got turned down as it was deemed to be an unsafe vehicle to be used as a taxi.

Both of those old photographs are credited to Kent Photos. The remarkable thing is that if you dialed their old phone number now you'd get the taxi firm at the top of the page!
