Two students from Dover Grammar School for Boys have contacted me and are offering a garden and landscaping service to anyone who is too old or frail to do thier gardening.
If anyone knows of anyone in Tower Hamlets who struggles with thier garden let me know, article in the Dover Express page 14.
Sorry it is Tower Hamlets only at the moment, although after my meeting with the boys later in the week or if we do not get the 15 gardens in Tower Hamlets then there may be scope to do them outside the area.Sorry Terry you are not in Tower Hamlets the Ward stops the other side of the road.
We are also looking for funding and any equipment that may be available,Marek you are o.k.as you are in the patch, although I don't think you are frail,I don't know about the old bit,you may qualify!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

That's a great idea - did VSO at school instead of sports and still kept fit sweeping leaves and digging bordes, cutting grass etc every tuesday afternoon, do hope it takes off.
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)
On a serious note, it's a really good idea. Hope that sort of decent gesture by the DGSB lads gains further momentum.

I refered to a paint job earlier. Below is what I was referring to. Perhaps John could give us the details. All it needs now is for DDC to deal with the obscene graffittl down the rest of the alleyway.

It's good to see something brightening up the area and great that some local lads put in a lot of their time and effort for the common good
Yes, Barry - we need lots more of this. Until they return to commercial use (whenever that'll be), I'd like to see every derelict, boarded up building in Dover become an explosion of artistic creativity, each depicting something with a local Dover flavour (and that doesn't stop and start with the cliffs and the castle - think OUTSIDE the box!) and some real visual humour (and not braindead rap culture tagging nonsense from wannabe plastic gangstas).
There must be the talent and the vision out there.

Thanks for that Terry, this scheme took nearly a year to work thru, and surpisingly enough while we were doing it the Light that I had complained about for 6 months was done, then DDC came along and swept the path and when we were there I was told that DDC would paint over the Graffiti further down the path.
I would like to pay tribute to those who got it done,
Alison Beaumont the Kent Community Warden for Tower Hamlets who had the idea.Bob Bruce who's garage it is for allowing us to 're-paint' his wall.My Cousin Terry Harris who spent 2 days with me doing the preperation work and covering it with the state of the Art,varnish and most importantly the 2 lads from St Edmunds School Austin Moore and Jem Payne under the direction of Linda Walmesley Teacher of Art and Design at St Edmunds School, and Cllr Gordon Cowan for finding the money to have the mural done.
One strange part to the days we spent there was the man who accused us of polluting the Area,I stood up to him when he started swearing in front of the Boys, this is not like me,all I can say is I am glad Bob Bruce was behind me well he is an ex copper.

15:547304Had a good meeting today with the 2 lads and talked over the ideas,it seems that it may take on a more Communal role rather than peoples gardens, and we suggested a few ideas and they have done their research, and if half of the ideas that came up are put into practise this will make a big difference to Tower Hamlets, more later as talks and negotiations are on going.

16:567305Ah murals. Why do they bring back memories of standing on a stage listening to the attacks of a hall full of people?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
