Also being in Tower Hamlets as a child there were a fair number of shops on the corners of South Road.
On the corner of Odo Road - Avery's?
On both corners of Tower Hamlets Street - one was a grocers - Sladdens?
Don't remember a shop in Ethelbert Road, but always found it a bit creepy along there.
There was also a shop at the corner of Devonshire and Goschen Roads.
I believe there was a chippy along Wyndham Road, but that must have shut before my time.
I'm pretty sure South Road used to have one of the first Games Workshop shops in the country. Or at least a shop that stocked their stuff. They're a huge company now.
Edit: Not South Road. It was East Street. Where the unfortunate clingfilm incident later happened.
