As one of the worst kept secrets appears to have got out, I can confirm that LRCF have been granted permission by the current landowner to clear the site of the old scrap yard off Cherry Tree Avenue. The work is being co-ordinated by myself with the help of Paul Willmott of the White Cliffs Countryside Project.

The London Road Community Forum are delighted to be able to finally tackle what has been an eyesore in the centre of Dover for ages. Local residents have been complaining about the state of the land for many years, and landowner Martin Clarke was more than happy to join in a spirit of community improvement by allowing access to the site, which stands on contaminated land and has been vacant for more than 15 years. It is hoped that the land will either be developed after being cleared or that an agreement can then be reached with the landowner for a more permanent community-based project that would see the land used by the public. No details have been drawn up yet for use of the land following the clearance by the London Road Community Forum.

As Jeanette Harper LRCF Chairman said "This land clearance project will not cost the tax payer one single penny and will be a massive improvement on what is more like a junkyard than a scrapyard! We'd be delighted if anyone would like to join in; the more the merrier, and we do have great fun on projects like this."

Please for the moment if any of you would like to volunteer your labour to help with this community project can you provide Paul (paul.willmott@whitecliffscountryside.org.uk) or myself (info@mastertonrobindesigns.co.uk) as Project Manager, your names and the dates you are available between now and the end of February.

We do however need to get final clearance from both an Environmental Health and Fire Safety perspective and whilst these may materialise this week, there is no guarantee; we also need to arrange various items of equipment in order to ensure the safety of volunteers whilst working on the site and also to ensure security of the site; this will take some days to organise.

I will post dates for workgroups once we have all the necessary approvals/agreements in place
