Came across this little gem today - didn't someone on here suggest we find something akin to the LochNess monster for Dover! It gave me a laugh anyway and it's so much more interesting than political arguments!

- 28 April 2009 23:0620348Not guilty this time Howard. It looks like a silly hoax site to me set up around a digitally altered video clip. Note that the 'creature' seems to unrealistically bounce up and down away from the horizon? It's also odd that on one page the name of the group changed from "Association of Marine Research" to the "Association of Maritime Research", and neither have close links via Google. Mind you it is all good fun.
Of course we do get the occasional large cetacean in the Channel. If I can find it, I've got somewhere a photo of a dead humpback whale washed up in Sandwich Bay I took in the late nineties, and another was stranded off Deal three or four years ago. - 29 April 2009 11:1420366Hi Claire,

I wonder what this is all building up to? Good luck to the originators of this, it's a hilarious bit of fun.
I sent my sighting in, but alas they didn't print it! Maybe they thought it wasn't a real image?

Its quite near my window in that shot, so if you hear my teeth chattering from fear across Dover in the dead of night dont be alarmed.
My feeling is Roger should include that picture in his new leaflet. The promotional material could run as follows...
