    Not really relevant to the point in the Mail article but a question which merits a serious answer.

    No - of course we wouldn't. And neither do the French. They've been moving asylum seekers on and razing their 'camps' to the ground for years. But they keep returning. Relatively, their numbers are low. Considerably more seek asylum in France. The problem which preoccupies you and this hapless government is the remainder who are determined to come to the UK - 75% of whom are successful in their application. Of those who are rejected and subsequently appeal, the success rate is 50%.

    If only we could think of a way of meeting our international obligations without forcing these people into small boats.
