I suppose it becomes necessary to raise the race issue at this point. Would a black officer want to go to the Met at this time as it seems to be a force riddled by racial difficulties. I wouldnt want to say actual racism, but racial difficulties.

Only yesterday the body that represents black officers said they advised young black men NOT to join the force...because they are being discriminated against and dont have a fair career, as enjoyed by their white equivalent. This is an incredible state of affairs in the 21st Century and needs to be put right.

Clearly there have been racial difficulties in some police forces in the past, as have been exposed by undercover TV journalists in recent times, a breed of journalism condemned by some on here recently, but this method brings to light some things that otherwise stay very very buried.

Considering the surrent situation at the Met, a black officer at the helm may be counter productive, until things are put on a more positive footing. Like I said...this is not something we should even feel it necessary to refer to in the modern age.
