  Possibly the strain is something to do with the fact that we add a third of a million a year to our population by immigration?
  
  (And before some self loathing idiot comes out with the totally specious argument that the NHS would not survive without immigrants, even if the NHS was totally staffed by bloody robots, an extra 300,000 patients a year would bring it to crisis point.)
