    Thats a good one Colin..yes interesting isnt it..that generation and my father did too...willingly ate tripe and yet its true they did describe rubbish they saw on TV or in newspapers or wherever as "Tripe!"...so the word tripe signifies something totally bad, yet on the other hand they willingly ate the stuff

    That tells you something about the post war 'make do' diet..semoline tapioca and tripe ! sheesh! but then I guess if you have nothing else...
