If "our man" was ina car with folks from another party, then assuming it was election or political business, he is no longer "our man", so why use that phrase?

If "our man" was in a car with folks from another party, going to a social event or other some such thing, then he could still be "our man", so why raise it?

If postings on this forum are anything to go buy, it appears the senior members of the Labour Party and Unite have accepted defeat, moved on and changed their language whereas their members/supporters haven't. That is a dangerous situation, a clear disconnect between party and fans. As John Hutton and others have said this week, Labour needs to sort itself out and find out how it is going to work in opposition before it does anything else, apart from electing a new leader of course. Appears to be a bit of disarray and a disconnect.

Therefore, sniping at "our man" with such language is, in my opinion, unhelpful and unwarranted.

There is something to be said for gettting ones own house in order before attacking the neighbours.
