These are our local East Kent Regiment formed by a merger of The Queens Reg and the Hampshires. The Queens, of course, had previously incorporated the Royal East Kents,, The Buffs....

I have just had a young NCO in my office sorting out a few things for him ahead of their tour of duty in Afghanistan.

If any of the families of these lads (or the lads, and any lasses these days, themselves!) look in on this Forum I would like to extend my best wishes and hope for a safe return.....

I am sure other forumites would like to do the same. A worrying time for the families of course, in many ways it worse for them than those who are going into a war zone.

I am sure they will uphold the best traditions of one of the finest county regiments in the British Army.
