10:4415431Just clearing up in the kitchen after breakast and see that there are huge lorries coming down the Folkstone Road.
Obviously this is not their preferred route, so there must be a problem on the A20 between Capel Le Ferne and Dover Town.
If you can avoid this until it's cleared (?) please do.
I'll see if I can find out why.

11:4015441Crashed lorry causes chemical alert
Three fire crews and a chemical support unit were called to the A20 between Dover and Capel this morning after a lorry crashed into the central reservation.
The road was closed for a while following reports that chemicals were leaking from the vehicle.
But fire fighters discovered that only the batteries on the vehicle were leaking, and there were no chemicals involved.
The Polish lorry driver was unhurt.
The accident happened just after 6am as the vehicle was heading towards Dover, between Capel and Aycliffe.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and Highways Agency officials are repairing a length of the central reservation barriers.

Just seen on the BBC traffic reports that there were two accidents closing that piece of road but no details of the other one.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

07:5415489Thanks Sheila.
Presumably a drugs bust ? Another crack-house closed.
Maybe the scaffolding and sheeting wasn't there to protec the public from dust and muck while work is in progress, but to stop people seeing inside ??
Hope the owner and perpetrators are punished adequately.

08:4715494All the more reason why we need to get the A2 upgraded and an automatic switch when there are problems on the A20.
Using Variable Message Signs they could immediately re-route from the M25 or from the M20 at the A249 junction eastbound and direct from the Docks westbound, straight up Jubilee Way.
The battle continues at Regional Transport Board level.

10:1215502Both of these incidents are reported at KentOnLine
Looks as if a few skips of 'stuff' was taken from Amsterdam House as we all know it hwile is was a chemical spil from the abtteries of the truck and repairs to the crash barriers resulted in the road being closed.
