    Colin: Unfortunately the older ships are doomed by the 2010 SOLAS regulations due to come into force. Our old Dover favourite the Saga Rose has just arrived at Jiangyin up the Yangtze River in China to be scrapped.

    Brian: Yes indeed. Very similar design to the SeaFrance Berlioz and Rodin funnels. Could have done with being a bit bigger though. One of my old ships, the Stena Invicta, had both her boilers plus the emergency generator room and assorted other stuff in the funnel and as a result the thing was the size of a house. Now that was a funnel!
