It always amazes me how everyone universally condemns the BNP yet they still get a million-odd votes. Who are these people voting for them when everyone, it seems, is against them? Let's not forget that the BNP are where they are because of a democratic process - the public voted to put them where they are and the BBC, rightly or wrongly, are responding to what is essentially a form of public opinion. "Enough of you voted for him, so here he is". It's a very difficult one to answer and I think the BNP highlights the dark side of democracy pretty well.
Let's just hope their spell under the limelight is brief and not too impactful. It's a shame the WWII generation are getting a bit thin on the ground really as their experiences of fascism should be enough for this generation to heed the warnings.
