It is scary to think young people are caught up in this unnecessary behaviour. There has always been a degree of aggression when teenagers are trying to find their way and dealing with hormones, parents, peer pressure etc, but it has all been cranked up a notch in recent years when knives and guns have become more accepted as the norm. It has never been "right" to have a punch up, but "in the old days" if there was a brawl it was over with and the hotheads learned a lesson - now they could be killed. Those people using needles, knives, fists, they could be your or my sons or daughters if circumstances were different - everyone is some Mothers son or daughter. How do we protect ourselves and our families?
