Thanks for all your nice comments. They really help at the moment. Terry, yes we still have Shelley the rottweiler although she is at her life expectancy age now and struggling with bad legs, so I don't know how much longer she'll be with us. It's a real shame that we have our pets for such a limited amount of time. Any dog lovers out there will understand and agree that us dog folk invest just as much love and devotion to our animal friends as any human friend, and we feel the loss just as painfully. But this is the "deal with the devil" that we make when we take on new pets. It always ends the same way for everyone. All that beautiful companionship is terrific but the price we pay for it is always the loss. But hey, it's just nature taking its course, the way that things are, and at least we can feel proud that Rebel had a superb life and I had the rare honour of being with her every single day of her life as she was born in my house and is now buried in my garden. She even came on holiday with us as I couldn't face putting her in kennels.
