can anyone help me. I have been approached to help an old person who was left some reel to reel tapes from her father and asked if I could get them onto a listenable format. Dunno whats on them - probably not a lot but she wanted to know if he was speaking on them. I have computers but not a reel to reel machine. I can even translate cassette tapes to cd. But this had me beat.

I didn't know that was possible - I have some great reel to reel tapes of old sixties music, but I put them in the loft and left them there as I didn't think it was possible.
You're a clever person Terry, I'll have to look for them sometime.

Before I find my doorstep covered with reels of tape I ought to mention that the copying is done in real time (or reel time, there's a pun there somewhere) so if you give me 10 hours of tape it will take me 10 hours to copy.
Please don't all rush at once!
Not clever Roger, just a hoarder. I've even got a Betamax machine somewhere!

winkle pickers!!
left everyone with crushed toes and pointed feet.
the footballers haircuts were incredible in the seventies, so much so, chris waddle kept his until the nineties.

Lotsa nostalgia brought back by the mention of reel to reel, one of my earliest efforts at singing is languishing on a friends reel to reel tape somewhere in sarf London (recorde on a 'Revox' if I recall correctly).
Aaahhh...wish I had Tim Brook-Taylors suit from the 'Goodies' - all one piece with a zip up the middle, just drap the kipper-tie over the zipper - voila! instant style.
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........
