17:1135036Just come on line and found this. Turkish kurd charged with honour killing. What the media should say is; TURKISH KURD FOUND GUILTY OF HONOUR MURDER. And again, NO MENTION OF THE WORD RELIGION!!! Why the hell not??? This is ENGLAND. Not some eastern country where they`re still running around in loin cloths, and never progressed beyond the prayer mat. The father murdered his 15 year old daughter 10 years ago for going away with a sunni muslim. Her body has never been found, but the police have evidence, she was buried in the father`s back garden for a time. When are these primitive beings going to be educated? Before commenting, just think about yourself having a 15 year old daughter, and murdering her because you`re a protestant, and her boyfreind`s a catholic, or vice versa. Hope someone inside has some piano wire!!

17:5335040not really a religious thing colin, more a medieval thing.
more importantly, the matter of honour killing has been brought out in to the open, everyone knew it went on in britain, a blind eye has been turned.
the man was known to be violent, extremely unpleasant to his family and thoroughly disliked among his community.

18:1635045..........just interested to know how a father binding his 15-year old daughter's legs to prevent her running away, then killing her in cold blood, could be construed as having anything to do with 'honour'.
True friends stab you in the front.

18:2435047Sorry Howard, it`s religion through and through. And yes, it is a medieval thing, like their religion, and that`s where it belongs. Regardless of what this butcher is like, it is common among these people. A muslim, a few years back, jumping up and down on his daughter`s chest to drive out evil spirits. Religion and ignorance again. They are primitive, and should be doctrined into the British education system.

18:3835048Culture and Religion are oftn muddled up together, but they are different. There are few, if any, religions or faiths that demand killing as a demonstration of fervour, but there are many cultures that indoctrinate their people with violence and intolerance. "Honour" killings (and I am with you Andy, what the pipe has Honour got to do with this kind of abomination?) and simply cultural dressed up as religious. This is done by people - people who want to have power and control.

20:0435056Correct me if I`m wrong, but our god demanded Abraham to murder his son Isaac. It`s called a sacrifice, but like our kurd man above, it`s murder.

08:2535100I am not sure how we can confirm that God asked anyone to kill anyone - I am one of the school that thinks (and thinks is a good word to use) that the Bible may not be factual...........!!! Lovely, thought provoking and fascinating, and with signposts to a decent code for Life, but perhaps not credibly factual, please! It would appear that for many centuries people have done just waht I said in my last post and manipulated religion to their own ends. Keith - I don't think anyone was trying to justify it.

19:1635145couldn't agree more bern, about people picking and choosing bits out of every religious work to justify their own errant behaviour.

19:2135146Agree very much with above Bern. Alot of people in the world don`t, or are not allowed to think. Thank goodness in this country we`re still allowed to. And, as you say, thought provoking and facinating. Always interesting to discuss.
