My son!
Kath, nope!
Ernest Albert Byford was born September 1874 in Ipswich.
Aged 28, he married Nellie Kate Speare, aged 21, in 1902 at Zion Chapel, Dover.
The dear man was 7 years older than his young wife.
His parents were not Thomas and Emily Byford, but Charles Byford, iron merchant, born in Bradfield, Essex, married to Agnes, 2 years younger than himself, born in Ipswich, Suffolk.
They had 9 children, of whom dear Ernest is the eighth. And a servant, Sarah, lived in the household.
The 1881 census for Suffolk reveals the family were living at 68 Lower Orwell Street, St. Mary Key.
It was the son of Ernest Byford, George Arthur my granddad, who declared himself 3 years older on his marriage certificate, when marrying my grandmother Golder. He was born in 1906, and married at the age of 19.
So as it stands now, Charles being from Essex and Agnes from Suffolk, I am East Saxon and East Anglian, as well as Kentish.
This should mean: Saxons, Angles and Jutes, a full representation of Olde England!
