  don't forget that a lot of irish jokes originate from dublin and cork and are aimed at the rural people in places like county kerry.
  
  when jewish jokes were the rage, it was mostly metropolitan jews that made them up.
  
  i don't mean the really unpleasant ones, just the take on jewish life.
  
  a great example being the one about the mother buying her son two ties for his birthday(one red and one blue).
  the son nervously puts on the red one, the mother then screams "what's wrong with the blue one"??
