Yes Rick Jones our cinematic blogger had a bit of a celebration last night to mark his 40th birthday. It was a surprise "do"...he came home from work and some ould relics from the past (such as yours truly) and from the present were there to greet him...we all shouted SURPRISE!! like ye dooo, and he was gobsmacked as he knew nothing about it. Wife Claire had organised everything.
Gosh the oul years are flying by as he always felt to me like the new and very young web wizard at the pioneering forefront...and here he is at 40.
In the early days Rick and another chap Mike Potts invented the Doverweb wheel and it took off very well , it was early times in those heady web days and the guys were doing something really new, and certainly new for Dover. Mike and Rick went their seperate ways after a relatively short time though, sadly... and hadnt seen each other in the 12 years since, until last night. I will have a picture of the two of them later.
ColetteB and myself joined up with the guys soon after they launched Doverweb and last night the original team were all together for the first time in all those years. We had a picture taken but alas got home and its not in the camera. Disappointed, whether enough time wasnt allowed for the card to read it or what I just dont know but its not there. Bit of a shame.
I met Rick initially following a feature about the all new Doverweb in the Dover Express...so you see the Dover Express is to blame for getting us all together.
Will get another picture or two up later but for the moment I must dash...as duty calls elsewhere.
