  Not just cans and fast food wrappers. What about a white leather settee along Barton Path, a double mattress by Morrisons and bikes, chairs, whole plastic bags full of rubbish etc. It's a crying shame how little respect there is for this chalk bed river by some people. Thank goodness for the volunteers like Cllr Georgette Ripley, Ben Glayzer and the other regulars who fill tens of bags with rubbish every time. I saw a very old video of 2 boys paddling a small craft along the Dour in '70's. There were statues of crocodiles along the river bank in Pencester Gardens. Absolutely amazing footage. How heartwarming it was to see it so litter free.
