  Mr Care, I wonder if Age UK have at last taken charge rather than the shop being independent from them.
  
  I used to be a shop volunteer and was there for about seven years, I left about six years ago when I found the atmosphere was changing because of one troublemaker's desire to try and run the place, luckily she did not succeed but unfortunately had quite a bit of influence. The old till we used never gave receipts, relying on the honesty of the the volunteers, cashing up was done at the end of the day with no problems at all.
  
  I suspect that those who left simply did not like the new regime, many would have been used to the way things were, some having been there for a long time.
