This Christmas Day the centre will be opening to all those senior Dover residents who would normally spend the day alone including married couples. As the centre can only cater for 60, the opportunity will be offered initially to those who attend the centre and then to others with hopefully those unable to attend being offered a meal at home plus a gift.
The idea is to give not only a Christmas dinner but a full traditional Christmas Day, an evening meal to take with them, transport to and from the centre and gifts.
Without hesitation Rooks offered the meats for the day and I have written to all major stores in the Town asking for specific food items.
As the day will be free to those attending I am going to seek funding from various sources but would wekcome ideas to raise enough funds to cover the gifts.
