The Kent Miners Festival: On 27th August 2012 Kent Miners Festival will again be held on the village greens of Aylesham in the heart of the coalfields communities. This year the festival is jointly sponsored by The Co-operative, Aylesham and Aylesham and District Community Workshop Trust, and had received a very significant grant from "Level 1″ - Dover District Council in Partnership with The Coalfields Regeneration Trust. In addition, donations of time and practical help by many members of our community have combined to make the 2012 Kent Miners' Festival possible.
This year many favourite elements of the Festival return including traditional Brass Band music from Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band and Betteshanger Brass Band, live music from choirs, solists and bands on stage, dancers from DAPA dance school, as well as stunt bike displays, a delicious range of foods to enjoy and information displays from many local organisations. You can even try out a Zumba class or book a free trial music lesson! Boxing displays will show off local talent and there is still time to enter a team for the Tug of War competition. See the What's On page for full details.

Dover's BIG Clean-Up. Dover Town Council are asking people to help clean up their area by joining their local community group and clearing a "patch" near them.
As a Thank-You for helping, there's to be a party in Pencester Gardens - see poster below.
Join in and help smarten up your area.
For those who live in the Maxton, Elmsvale and Priory Ward, the pathway along the top of Glen Grove,
leading to Vale View infants school will be cleared and the meeting area will be at the bottom of Glen Grove, where it joins the Folkestone Road. See poster below.
Where ever you live, come and help tidy-up your (Dover Town) area.
